Monday Musings

If we are continually thanking and praising Him, there will be no room in our hearts for lust, greed, envy… it is a matter of being entirely filled.  Not needing anything more beyond food, clothing, and shelter. And we find, the more we are filled with praise for our Saviour, the other stuff comes quite easily.

Thursday Thoughts

You know, the peace that comes though faith in Christ is hard to explain to those who hold fast to their works. Prideful mankind will always want to add to their salvation.

One young man I knew, said he did not believe in the pre-trib rapture, “because we need to be punished.”  He could not see that he was blaspheming our Lord Jesus Christ’s finished work on the cross. Saying you can add to that, is putting yourself on His level!

Sage’s Super Power Soup!

This soup will cure what ails you!

In large Dutch oven or crockpot:

Tomato products, whatever you have. You need a good amount for the anti-oxidents. In this batch I used a commercial sized can of diced tomatoes.

Meat of any kind. Use what you have. Leftovers, rotosserie chicken, even Spam will add a lot to this soup. I used smoked sausage in this batch, because that is what I had.

Legumes. Canned beans are fine, one – two cans. In this batch I used a cup of dried lentils. They are awesome because they don’t need soaking and cook to tenderness in about an hour. Nice for when there is sickness and you need soup fast.

Grain: rice, pasta, etc.  I use barley because it holds up and is good for stabilizing blood sugar. For barley, 1/2 cup will fill out a huge pot of soup.

Here is the power:

1 chopped onion, or equal amount dried or powdered

1 heaping tablespoon minced garlic, or equal amount powdered

1 heaping tablespoon chili powder

1 heaping tablespoon ground cumin

1 heaping tablespoon ground tumeric

2 tablespoons dried parsley

1 tablespoon honey, to balance acidity of tomatoes

2 bay leaves

2 teaspoons sea salt

3/4 teaspoon black pepper

Bullion, or broth + boiling water to fill the pot

In Dutch oven, heat everything to boiling, then cover, reduce to simmer, for 45 minutes to one hour.

Taste and adjust seasonings. Add Mrs. Dash now if you want.

For crockpot, cook on high for 4-6 hours, or high for 6 – 10 hours.

Super soup!

Happy homemaking!

Tuesday Truth

Genesis 16:11-12 KJV [11] And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. [12] And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

Israel is the tiny red area. Islam is the green area. Think about that in relation to Scripture.

End-of-Days Scenarios: Part 7

End-of-Days Scenarios: Part 7 People have vanished all over the world in less time than it takes for light to enter the eye and strike the retina. The chaos is worldwide, but nowhere so profound as within the United States of America. Just a matter of time, however, will prove that the ramifications are geopolitically […]

End-of-Days Scenarios: Part 7

Rapture-Ready Remnant

As if to frame the entire set-up for how near we are to the last moment of this Church Age, the exodus of God’s chosen people from around the world back to their God-given land is suddenly in stark view. The set-up includes all the eschatological stage-setting things—the issues and events we’ve pored over for many […]

Saturday Scripture

Matthew 6:28-29 KJV [28] And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: [29] and yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Friday Scripture

Ephesians 5:1-5 KJV [1] Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

[2] and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

[3] But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

[4] neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

[5] For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Thursday Thoughts

This is a TRUE Proverb!  If you are under The Blood, you will know that these two verses can be be put into practice and realized. Nothing at all to do with sending money to a TV evangelist!  When you see God’s providence and provision in everything, even chastening, you will realize enormous blessings, and not all of them tangible.

Sage’s Perfect Potato Soup!

This soup is hearty and delicious. It is comprised of many years of soup making in my kitchen, for my family. Everyone loves it. The condensed milk provides a nice base without curdling.  Pantry and crock pot friendly.

6 – 10 yellow potatoes, cut up

1 small handfull dried, chopped onions

1 chopped celery stalk, with leaves

1 peeled and sliced carrot

1 heaping tablespoon dried parsley

4 – 6 cups boiling water

2 – 3 chicken bullion cubes, or equivalent in broth

1.5 teaspoons sea salt

1/2 – 3/4 teaspoons ground black pepper

2 – 3 tablespoons butter

1, 13 oz. Can evaporated milk

1 pound bacon, crisp and crumbled

1 – 2 cups cheese, use any cheese that melts well, cheddar not mozzerella. I always use a combination of what I have.

__________________________________________

Begin by scrubbing potatoes.  Yellow potatoes have such thin skin, I do not peel, but I do dig out any imperfections with a paring knife. Next cut potatoes into substantial cubes. If you dice too small, they will disintigrate.

Next, add all potatoes to crock pot or Dutch oven. The potatoes should fill about 1/3 of your pot.

Next add onions, celery, carrot, parsley, boiling water, bullion, salt, pepper and butter.

USE BOILING WATER!

If using a Dutch oven, heat to boiling, then reduce and simmer for half an hour to 45 minutes, until potatoes are tender.  Then add can of milk, bacon, and cheese. Heat through till cheese is melted.

If using a crock pot, cover and turn crock to low for 10 – 12 hours, or high for 3 – 4 hours. Stir in cheese, milk, and bacon DURING THE LAST HOUR.

Happy homemaking!
