Unruly behavior is one thing – unruly mouths are another. Using our mouths to glorify Him is wisdom, which only comes from Him.
Proverbs 10:13
In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found:
Any wisdom that comes forth from our mouths comes from Him. Having understanding is different than having knowledge. The depth of our understanding will be commensurate to our walk with Him. Many sheeple devote their energies to earning advanced degrees or to studying the evil antics of politicians. From a humanistic perspective, they could be identified as having great knowledge. Yet – they do not have understanding. No passage in Scripture expresses this difference better than the following:
Job 42:5-6
5 I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth Thee.
6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
In the forty-two chapters of the Book of Job, he makes an arduous journey from the mere knowledge of God – to the true understanding of God. When Job submits – he receives understanding.
but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
At its very essence – the above verse means exactly what it says . . . rejecting Jesus Christ demonstrates a complete void of understanding.
