This stirring hymn was written to a march tempo – NOT the rockabilly way it is presented these days. I hope you feel the urgency and gusto that was intended by the composer in this faithful rendering, and I pray that it will leave you feeling breathless in anticipation for that trumpet!

Black started his musical career with John Howard of New York and Daniel Towner of the Moody Bible Institute. He moved to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, around 1881, and was an active member of the Pine Street Methodist Episcopal Church from 1904 until his death, serving as a song leader and Sunday school teacher. Researchers have discovered that bioelectrical signals are essential to the development of normal head and facial features in tadpoles. The signals actually outline the features – eyes, nose, mouth, etc.
The Tufts biologists found that, before the face of a tadpole develops, bioelectrical signals (ion flux) cause groups of cells to form patterns marked by different membrane voltage and pH levels. When stained with a reporter dye, hyperpolarized (negatively charged) areas shine brightly, while other areas appear darker, creating an “electric face.”
“When a frog embryo is just developing, before it gets a face, a pattern for that face lights up on the surface of the embryo,” said senior author Dany S. Adams, Ph.D. Adams is a research associate professor in the Department of Biology in the Tufts School of Arts and Sciences and a member of the Tufts Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology. “We believe this is the first time such patterning has been reported for an entire structure, not just for a single organ. I would never have predicted anything like it. It was as recent as 120 years ago, that the ill and dying, were “bled,” to effect a cure. George Washington, regarded by many, as the greatest president the United States ever had, was bled to death.
There can be scarcely a doubt that the treatment of his last illness by the doctors was little short of murder. Although he had been bled once already, after they took charge of the case they prescribed “two pretty copious bleedings,” and finally a third, “when about 32 ounces of blood were drawn,” or the equivalent of a quart. Of the three doctors, one disapproved of this treatment, and a second wrote, only a few days after Washington’s death, to the third, “you must remember” Dr. Dick “was averse to bleeding the General, and I have often thought that if we had acted according to his suggestion when he said, ‘he needs all his strength— bleeding will diminish it,’ and taken no more blood from him, our good friend might have been alive now. But we were governed by the best light we had; we thought we were right, and so we are justified.”
We now know, that blood is the source of life, and that healthy blood is an absolute necessity to transport nutrients, and oxygen to every cell in the body. The Bible made the scientific statement 3,500 years ago – in Leviticus 17: 11, while scientists have really only begun to understand the significance of blood in the past 100 years. The blood . . .
– carries on all the different body processees
– absorbs oxygen from the air, and carries it throughout the body
– collects Co2 and waste
– collects digested food from cilia in the intestines and distributes it
– grows new cells, bones, flesh, hair and nails
– sustains all organs
– repairs wounds, grows new flesh
– fights disease
If blood flow is cut off from the brain for only a few minutes, the brain is harmed to such an extent, that should the victim survive, there is permanent brain damage.
