Friday Proverb – More Warnings Against Adultery

proverbs

Proverbs 6:20-35

Instruction from godly parents is to be integral to the young Christian.  Holding tightly to such counsel, will be a boon to resisting the world, the flesh, and the devil!

Often people blame the man in instances of adultery.  Certainly – in cases where the female is underage, he is 100% responsible.  But – in the sin of two adults – both are responsible.  Women who pursue married men are considered whores in the Bible.  Not long ago in our culture – women who did such things were called home-wreckers.  Now they are glorified in the media,  and money is thrown at them for their evil doings.

The Proverb summarizes in the next six verse, by comparing adultery to stealing bread.  If one steals because he is starving, it is more easily forgiven.  If one steals when one has plenty – it is deserving of revenge.

Isaiah 61:10

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

Friday Proverb – Warning Against Falsehood

scheming

King James Version (KJV)

gossiping

Truly – this must be the greatest trouble in the Body of Christ.  It is tragic that so many false converts are within the fold – but it is a fact that must be faced.  How could anyone professing the Name of Christ be “devising mischief continually?”  The LORD sees everything – and those that do these things will not go unpunished.

calamity

King James Version (KJV)

But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and misused His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till there was no remedy.

syncopation

In syncopation, the beat that is normally weak, is heavily stressed. It is also known as the “back-beat” in pop and rock music. It causes the left brain (emotional) to respond, and causes the heart to attempt to match the back-beat.

It’s hard to not see that we are living in very unique times. When has there ever been such globalization and convergence of disasters and societal, monetary and political maneuverings? What is the “New Birth?” Part 2

burden-fell-off-tn

Ye must be born again.

Christian:“Thus far did I come laden with my sin,
Nor could aught ease the grief that I was in,
Till I came hither. What a place is this!
Must here be the beginning of my bliss?
Must here the burden fall from off my back?
Must here the strings that bound it to me crack?
Blest cross! blest sepulchre! blest rather be
The Man that there was put to shame for me!”

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

For the Lord’s Day – Leaning on the Everlasting Arms

Anthony Showalter was leading a singing school in an Alabama church in 1887. When he returned to his boardinghouse room one night, two letters awaited him. Both were from former students, and both men told of the recent loss of their wives. Mr. Showalter wrote back, seeking to comfort the young men in the midst of their grief. But what to write? When he came to the end of each letter, he wanted to include a Bible verse. He picked Deuteronomy 33:27, “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms ….”

He pondered the words of that verse as he penned them into the letters, and the lyrics of the chorus of Leaning on the Everlasting Arms came to his mind. He wrote to his friend, Elisha Hoffman, explaining that he had a chorus, but no verses. Mr. Hoffman wrote back with the rest of the words of this famous hymn.

Sam Duncan, a student and nephew of Mr. Showalter, was given the class assignment to write the tune for this poem. The piece was published under his uncle’s name in the book Glad Evangel for Revival, Camp and Evangelistic Meeting Hymnal.

Deuteronomy 33:27

The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and He shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.

Revelation 19:11-16

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself.

13 And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And He hath on his vesture and on His thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

Isn’t He AWESOME?
