Today’s Proverb is short and heavy hitting. Last week, Wisdom was inviting us in – this week – Wisdom’s polar opposite opens her door and beckons – she is . . .
FOOLISHNESS
Proverbs 9:13-17
13 A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:
(Nowadays – this woman can beckon from cyberspace)
16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
Secret? Her claim is ludicrous.
(does anyone seriously think they can hide sin from The LORD?)
. . . behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out.
Proverbs 9:18
But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
Wisdom and foolishness live right across the street from each other. Indeed – they may even dwell in the same house!
